The character Ruby in Susan's book, 'Ruby A. Beagle' is based on Susan Blake's family’s experience rescuing their beloved beagle (named Lucy) from a local shelter. Lucy came with a plan - it was Susan's job to figure it out. While Lucy was patient with some things, she was rather stubborn with others. Learning to navigate her new family took a bit of compromising to find the perfect balance.  Like most aspects of life, one must find the common ground and build from there.

 

Ruby and the other dogs at the shelter - referred to in 'Ruby A. Beagle' as The Club -  are patiently waiting for their new families to show up so they will be rescued too.

 

This is a whimsical tale of finding your person, your forever home and knowing you will all be safe and loved for the rest of your life. Ruby also offers insightful advice to readers on how to rescue a pet.
